The Robin

The Robin

Be ever so still my darling,
be ever so still;
and look past the treetops,
to the crest of that hill.
Do you see side the house
and the fence painted blue?
There sits a robin-
Delicate and true.
He's followed us while
we walked through these woods,
He longs for you darling
like no other quite could.
He sees your sweet beauty
in his tiniest of eyes,
so his smallest of hearts
to you he confides.
He sits and he waits
when you're hiding inside,
for he knows only you;
You and the sky.

I hear him at dawn,
his song is so sweet-
he whistles for you,
when you're taken by sleep.
I love you my darling
and all that you be
but I couldn't love you
as much as does he...

No,
I love you my darling
and I know you love me,
but I couldn't ever love you
as much as does he.
