I just checked that website for you, August 23.

Your ad and photo are up there.

It says MY NAME IS MICHAEL, I AM SINGLE 36 YRS OLD WHITE MALE, I AM LOYAL, CARING, HONEST, UNDERSTANDING AND VERY OPEN MINDED. I LIKE ALL WHITE, ASIAN, AND SPANISH WOMEN AND AGE IS NOT IMPORTANT NOR LOOKS. TRUE FRIENDS COME IN ALL KINDS OF SIZES, SHAPES, AND LOOKS. TALK TO YOU SOON.

To go into the site you have to enter which state you want & in your state there are only 2 pages of people (30 people) which I think is a good thing... sometimes there's too many people & it can throw a girl into a spin.

I hope this puts your mind at ease.

Something that just occured to me in relation to this site though... I haven't heard of it before & I had a little look around while I was there. It's a little strange at first & occured to me that because it's not obvious initially that it's a prisoner contact site (it looks like any other fresh-faced dating site with photos of couples holding hands in the country or close-ups of their smiling faces together wearing normal clothing... not prison issue clothing) - until you read the fine print on that first page it's not obvious what the site actually is (most of these sites are obvious about what they are straight away, which they probably should be). Maybe that's their point of difference (?)

I did 2 internet searches out of curiosity, the first for 'prisoner connections' and the 2nd search 'prison penpals' and these are the sites that came up in the first page of the search... in this order
writeaprisoner.com
inmate-connection.com
convictpenpals.com
prisonpenpals.com
friendsbeyondthewall.com
meetaninmate.com
prisoninmates.com
lostvault.com &
convictmailbag.com

I met my friend through friends beyond the wall & I went with that site because it was in that first page of search results (it was the 2nd listing at the time)... most people won't search beyond that so I wonder how this site attracts people to your ad. Just thought I'd let you know, in case you don't have any luck with this site and want to try others in the future. Best of luck!

writeaprisoner.com and friendsbeyondthewall.com have both been popular well visited websites where many receive results, so I recommend those as I also met a friend at friendsbeyondthewall back in 2003 and we are in touch til this day. I think the ads there are alot easier to understand and not overwhelming with too much information and ads, etc. They are laid out nicely. As for writeaprisoner.com, they are just one of the most popular for sure although they include ALOt of people listed. More than I could even sort through if I wished. I am pretty sure nonstop connections sends brochures to those who are on the inside and thats how they hear of that site. (Saw where the comment/reply from Nicki above asked this question and my friend receives these brochures all of the time.....I am just glad to hear that you did not fall for one of the scams and that they were just bad about communicating back with you regarding your ad, but at least it did get published) I have heard alot about fake brochures where they just take your money so Id follow the ones that come recommended above on Nicki's list especially toward the top, and also any that other friends that you know of suggest or use around there and have had success with. Take care! And I hope you find a perfect friend to write to as well, its a positive experience and can be good for both involved! -CC
