SYSTEMATIC/ORGANIZED CRIME AT CBCC
Clallam Bay Corrections Center Staff have been engaged in a number of
unlawful patterns of practice involving the following:
(1) Unlawfully harassing prisoners with intent to elicite a reaction that they can
punish prisoners for.
(2) Setting prisoners up to be assaulted and/or fight thus intentionally
endangering people.
(3) Gambling on the outcomes arising from the situations that they create
(Such as the two previously written ones.).
(4) Failing in their duty to file reports which are true, filing false reports
instead with intent to deprive prisoners of their property on liberty
without due process of law thereby violating the prisoners rights
guaranteed under the 14th Amendment to the constitution of the United
States and engaging in official misconduct.
(5)Intentionally failing in their duty to properly investigate incidents
involving crimes and/or violations. Sometimes engaging in the
activities mentioned in the prior paragraph in the process.
(6) Failing in their duty to abide by Washington Administrative Code
section 127-28(Chapter) during disciplinary hearings and appeals
while depriving prisoners of their property and liberty without due
process of law thereby violating prisoners rights
guaranteed under the 14th Amendment to the constitution of The
United States of America thus engaging in Official misconduct.
Issuing prisoners guilty verdicts even if the
preponderance of evidence indicates or proves the prisoners not
guilty. Injuring the record.
(7) Violating Chapter WAC 137-32, failing in their duty to abide by those
laws with intent to deprive the prisoner of property and liberty
without due process of law thereby violating the prisoners rights
guaranteed under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of The
United States of America thus engaging in the official misconduct. False
reporting, Possible misfeasance and/or malfeasance in office, Other crimes.
(8)Utilizing 20+/- methods to ensure grievances aren't processed property
and don't make it to Department of Corrections Headquarters because
a person can sue DOC if they exhaust administrative remedies
and DOC HQ staff don't deal with the grievable issues property.
Failure of duty. False reporting. Other crimes.
(9)Tolerating inadequate employee performance and misconduct
as well as supporting it.

College students were assigned to be either prisoners or guards in a simulated prison experiment. The experiment was called off after 6 days because the students adapted to these actual roles and became absorbed in them. The 'guards' quickly took on a psychologically abusive role and the prisoners passively accepted their treatment. What this experiment showed is that good people are capable of doing bad things when put into certain environments and it is human nature to 'play the role' of where we are.
I don't mean to deminish what you are going through, not in any way. I realise it may be difficult to draw too many similarities from an experimental situation in the basement of a University with your everyday reality, and I can't possibly know what you endure every day. I also don't live in the USA & your legal system operates differently to ours in Australia, so although I'm not able to help you with your requests I wanted to say this to you.
It is obvious that you have put considerable time and effort into putting this post together, but I can't help but think you could possibly be better off if you re-directed your attentions elsewhere. You seem to be taking on so much with what seems like so little support and I'm concerned for you, for how long you will be able to keep up this fight, considering what I said earlier... that it's possible the guards are just 'playing a role' and if this is the case, you have the ability to play yours a little differently. Of course the world needs activists, but we also need to consider ourselves and our own inner strength within the equation.
If continuing this fight is what's most important to you, I wish you well. I just hope you also take care of yourself.

I currently do many of the things you suggested I do. I have written to a man for the last 3 years, serving life in prison in the US, who was sentenced as a juvenile. I have been able to follow and keep him up to date with the progression of court cases which have this year resulted in some hope at an opportunity for re-sentencing (as it has been found that your 8th amendment is breached by sentencing juveniles to life in prison. Something that only occurs in the United States, and in no other country in the world) and he now has the possibility of gaining a release date. I have also been able to find him a Lawyer to represent him on re-sentencing. He has told me our friendship alone has given him a reason to fight for a future, something he didn't have previously. I realize the profound value of our friendship and if he is released, I plan to travel to the USA to help him find the peaceful life he desires but has never known.
There are also others I write to personally from this site and access information and resources for them. I will also post information in my comments when I feel I have something to offer and it is appropriate to do so. Sometimes I get it right… sometimes I get it wrong. I am a student of psychology and criminology & share what I'm learning when it seems relevant to blogs posted and in turn, when someone has offered something I find useful in my studies, I will send them something to acknowledge their contribution to my life and to thank them for helping me out.
I am very supportive of one blogger here who is trying to change the way the USA deals with mentally ill prisoners and I send him the articles he requests, and offer others I think may be useful in his cause.
I apologize if my comments appeared ignorant or caused you to respond in what seems to be a defensive way. I meant no disrespect.
As for the Stanford Prison Experiment. There is much about it on the internet (and in many books related to psychology). Although it was an experiment conducted so many years ago, it is still very highly relevant and respected today and one that Dr Zimbardo has used to describe more recent actions of torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib by American military personnel. I have a copy of the 1971 report and if you would like a copy of it, I will send it to you.
In my previous response to your post, I was attempting to ask you to consider your circumstances from a different perspective, in the hope that it may ease your burden. I realize however, that is a very difficult thing to do.
I wish you well.

PART 1
Brian,
I agree with you that kids should never be treated with a 'lock them up and throw away the key' mentality. I actually don't believe any one of us should be treated that way, regardless of our age. I think we have a societal responsibility to take care of each other and offer all the help each of us needs in order to make our societies better places. I'm also with you on the ways you've said we should do this too.
You've asked about my friend who's serving life in prison. He's in Arizona. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole at the age of 16. He shot and killed a man, while attempting to steal his truck. From what he has told me, it sounded like a reasonable sentence the judge handed down at the time because he was a kid off the rails, and his behavior reflected this. To know him as the person he is today though, over a decade later, he is not that frightened young boy, driven by pain and anger. I see this time and time again in people posting on this site too. People saying they have grown and changed. I myself have become more aware of what is important in this life within the last decade and it makes no sense to think simply because someone was once labeled as 'bad', or are told that they will spend the term of their natural life in prison, that they should not be given another chance at a good life.
As for romance with the man I've referred to as my friend. We started as strangers 3 years ago and in August last year he told me he loved me, so I guess yes, that is a fair conclusion you've drawn. It's difficult not to feel love for someone when they've confided in you their deepest fears and darkest moments, and trust you enough to share all of those things. In fact, he just phoned me a few moments ago :) I sent him money for Christmas and he used it to buy telephone time with me. I know that speaks volumes.
As for asking him if he wants to do a Paralegal course, he has told me he's not eligable for any courses because he is serving a life sentence, but that perhaps in the future he may be. I will help him with whatever he wants to do. For now he seems content in simply writing to me every day. I see that as both a beautiful thing, and a serious responsibility. I know letting him down would crush him, and I will never do that.
I want to clarify with you too, when I said to you in my initial response to your post that I am not able to help you, what I meant was that I was not in a position to commit myself to assisting you at this time. Of course I have the ability to assist anyone and everyone, but I simply do not have the time. I'm a single mother, I work and study and, as has been part of your advice to me I 'Don't offer what I cannot give'. I am someone who prides myself on keeping my word and in all honesty at this time, I am over-committed. In 6 months, when I've completed my studies, perhaps I will have more available time then.
I will send you a copy of the Stanford Prison experiment as you requested, unfortunately though, in the way your posts have been scanned, the last line of each of your pages is unreadable and I think your new address may be the very last line. Because of this, I will wait for your next post, rather than sending it to the wrong address. You seem like a very interesting person, with many relevant ideas and offerings and I respect everything you've had to say.
I know I haven't addressed all of your points here, but I will go back through at some stage. And I thank you for the links you've offered me. I love to be directed to new lines of interest when I come to this site, and I thank you for your suggestions.
Take care, Nicki
