Beauty

Beauty

See the man aboard the sailing ship,
and the love he left behind.
He gazes out into the sea
as his tears fall into the brine.
The whales and beasts
that swim beneath
could never know that pain;
for ours is indeed, a thing bequeathed
by the heavens from which we came.
What lies unreached, the darkest feats,
in the echoes of his heart;
How can a man, who knows not the plan
understand these works of art?
