Hello. My name is Kris Himmelberger. I would like to share my story with you.
Over a decade ago, I was involved in a car accident in which an individual died. Afraid of jail, I went on the run. I was alone and felt that no one understood my situation.

Soon, I ran out of money. After watching a movie, I got an idea to committed a robbery and start my life over with the money. I knew it was wrong, but convincing myself, it was the only solution.

After committing the robbery, I felt an immense shame. I wanted to undo what I had done, but I knew there was no way. As I drove down the street, I was stopped. Fearful of imprisonment, I shot several times and took off running. Ashamed of my actions, I thought about suicide, but knew it wouldn't solve my problems and didn't want to cause more pain to my family.

After my arrest, to my relief, I learned no one was injured. After my trial, I was convicted and sentenced to 20 years. Terrified of going to prison, I thought by threatening my trial judge, I would remain in the county jail to await my appeal. I was wrong. Subsequently, I was sentenced to an additional 2.8 years.

A few years later, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was too young to die. I felt God might be punishing me for my actions. As I reflected on my life, I saw myself as a sailboat with no sail. Drifting nowhere, I had to redirect my life.

I was not a bad person, yet I did a bad thing. To understand my actions, I began therapy and started reading self-help books. As I uncovered the root cause of my distorted thinking patterns, I realized I had to make a change in my life. Applying the principles of restorative justice, I started taking college classes, using what I learned to facilitate self-help groups.
Realizing a lack of empathy that played a central role in my bad choices, I created a Victim's Empathy course to help other people.

After earning my A.A. in Sociology, I found myself within the financial means to continue my education. Continuing my education is possible with financial assistance from sponsors. If you are interested, I will send you a registration form that you can send directly to Colorado State University, along with a check or money for the tuition ($447).
I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail (Krishimmelberger@Yahoo.com) which will be forwarded by snail mail or by writing to:
