PROFILE PAGE

Hello, whereever you are. I'm new to blogging so I hope you'll welcome me with open arms. My name is Reginald S. Lewis, 58 years young, African-American, 5'9", muscular, (presently) healthy, athletic, 210 lbs, and I'm an ex-boxer still as fast and agile and strong as guys half my age. I'm also a widely-published, award-winning poet, essayist, playwright, and the author of two collections of poetry, entitled, Leaving Death Row, (AuthorHouse, 2000), and Inside My Head, (iUniverse, 2002), and both books are widely reviewed. My third book is entitled, Where I'm Writing From: Essays from Pennsylvania's Death Row, (PublishAmerica, 2005). My media kit, i.e., published poems, articles, op-eds, essays, book reviews, press releases, author interviews, fliers, and extensive publications list is available upon request by mail, as my funds permit. Several of my plays for young students garnered awards—and one was selected for the "Juneteenth Festival of New Works," produced and performed at the Actors Theatre of Louisville.
I'm a Muslim, who enjoys meeting people of all spiritual beliefs, faiths, racial classifications and denominations—as long as you're tolerant of others, open-minded, non-judgmental, fair, and compassionate. I'm an avid reader, incredibly intelligent, humorous, loyal, and an attentive listener. So feel free to talk about yourself. Height, weight, age, eye color and economic status, insignificant. I have an affinity for intellectuals, book worms, computer-geeks, those who love travel and adventure—and I'm capable of intellectual discourse with anyone. That you're an esteemed scholar with academic degrees doesn't impress me. I can kick it with the best of you. Try me.
Oh, and before I forget—After almost 30 long, harrowing years of total isolation on Pennsylvania's Death Row—a fair and compassionate judge possessing the wisdom of Solomon—"vacated" my death sentence on May 9, 2012, and released into the "General Population," where I now have far more privileges, such as "Contact Visits." The overwhelming majority of prison inmates are illiterate—so I am on the waiting list to be a tutor in the PLP, (Prison Literacy Project) in the Education Department at Graterford prison. I hope I get the job. I'm also a "Jailhouse Lawyer" and I do research and write Pro Se Motions and briefs for my fellow inmates who cannot afford attorneys. I recently field an "Innocence" Claim in a case where I was convicted for the murder of a prison drug dealer during a riot in the now uninhabited Holmesburg prison, on September 11, 1983.
In my new blog, "Reggie's Corner," I'll be blogging a plethora of exciting issues such as Capital Punishment, prison abolition, poetry, non-fiction, movies, books, politics, religion, the economy, global events, politics, and my most favorite subject of them all: POWERFUL WOMEN! (Particularly the brilliant women who voted to Reelect our President, Barack Obama!) I'd love to hear from you all. I also welcome comments from anyone—pro or con. You can also send me letters or donations via www.JPay.com. I will do my best to respond to all who contact me. Peace & Blessings! I AM-
