Down But Not Out!

Hello, peoples! My name is Jason Maggard. I'm 6'2" tall, 205 pounds, brown hair, and hazel-green eyes. I'm 37 years old and will be 38 on April 19th.

I've been incarcerated since July 22, 2000 and given 35 years to life for a zero strike, first prison term. No physical violence in any prior history, but I was sentenced under a fatally flawed three strikes law. I've lost most of my family and not all due to death, but broken hearts of not being able to help me. I love them anyway and I understand their hurt.

I just do all I can to better myself, stay trouble free, and keep focused on a better future to come. I know this is not a life for me. I would take a full advantage of a second chance at life. The prison system here is changing, and I hope to get to be free again in about three years. I keep a positive attitude and hope for a bright future.

I would like to correspond with anyone who would like to share time to write me. It would help me to stay grounded and keep my focus on what I have to look forward to. I love sports and most outdoor activities. I like to help others in any way that I can to lift them up and better themselves. Please feel free to share whatever you like or don't like. I always try to keep an open heart and mind. I always try to make things better than how I found them.
