Hello!
My name is George. I've been incarcerated just about 5 years. Hopefully my motion for a reversal will be in my favor, God willing, and I won't have to do the remaining 7 years.
However, whatever the outcome, I will continue to educate myself and not waste this time. In the short time I've been incarcerated, I've completed a two year correspondent degree in theology through Armstrong College.
I've also completed a six month addiction counseling Christian base course as well as self-studying addiction counseling using the study guide of NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals. My goal is to certify through NYS OASAS (Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services).
I am a facilitator for AVP an Alternative to Violence Project which started here at Green Haven about 35 years ago after the Attica Uprising in 1971. I will write more about it on my next posting. You can also long on at www.avpny.org to learn more.
I love all kind of music, which takes me out of here for a little while as I meditate. I also love writing and art in all forms. I've written a few poems and I am planning on writing a series of books as soon as I finish my writing course with College Guild.
I hope my writing that I plan for this blog will give you some insight, inspiration, and pleasure in the art form of poetry.
Your comments are welcome and if you like, you could write me direct. I promise I will get back to you. God bless.
