IDOLS OF IVORY
Kyle De Wolf

According to National Geographic (October 2012), religious hypocrites around the world have been murdering the God/dess' elephants to make religious statues and prayer beads our of their severed tusks. Catholics, Muslims, and Buddhists are all implicated in the illegal and immoral ivory trade.

The God/dess created elephants, and they are her children. They are just as soulful as you and I. The God/dess despises your fake piety, dripping with the blood of her children. Most assuredly s/he will not heed your prayers when you come to her on bended knee clanging the bones of her murdered children in supplication. Would you test an outraged mother's wrath?

Last week our reverend father told us that animals do not possess souls, a presumption that I have never found attested in the pages of holy scripture. Yet according to TIME (April 15, 2013), animals from crows to elephants grieve for the dead and even participate in primitive rites of mourning. On the day of reckoning, will the innocents we have so callously slaughtered stand over us in judgment?

Christians, notorious for their lack of compassion, love to make excuses for senseless acts of violence. According to Genesis 9:3, the God/dess gave us animals for meat. But we are not reverently hunting great beasts to feed our hungry children as a God-fearing lion or tiger might do. Instead we make creepy idols (see Exodus 20:4-5a), thus exposing our faith as hypocrisy, our righteousness as bloody rags. We leave the meat to rot in the hot sun.

I plead with you, therefore, men and women of faith. Do not murder your blessed Lord's creatures to make silly baubles which do not please her divine spirit. Leave her children alone, and do not purchase or accept any ivory. Let it be to you as the bones of a murdered child dearly beloved by her mother.
