Don't Kill for your Government

From The Uncommon Criminal by Kyle De Wolf (author's profile)

By Kyle De Wolf

Don't kill for your government
Don't fight for the right
Life is too short to waste
Dodging bullets in the night

Just hook up with a sweet girl
And smoke a little weed
Just forget about the heroes
Who dies for oil and for greed

You don't need ribbons or medals
To put up on your shelf
You don't need to be a man
Son, you just need to be yourself

I'd rather be a criminal
Than die like a bloody fool
I'd rather be in prison
Than be somebody's tool

There ain't nothing cool
About becoming somebody's slave
Or getting a little white cross
To mark your early grave

Don't kill for your government
It's not your country, man
It's just a bunch of bloody lies
A vacant and barren wasteland

Patriotism varies, from a noble devotion to a moral lunacy.
