A Mighty Sound

From The Uncommon Criminal by Kyle De Wolf (author's profile)

A Mighty Sound

I heard a mighty sound
Rising up from the earth
A hundred million voices
Demanding a new birth

Earth shakes and trembles
Crying out in pain:
"Oh but who can avenge
The blood of the slain?"

A new age is downing
Upon this lonesome rock
Oh can't you hear the tick tick tock
Of the doomsday clock?

Oh king upon your throne
Oh queen upon your bed
Oh don't you hear us coming
To collect your severed head?

Babylon is fallen
That's what the prophets say
Your brave new world order
Is soon to fade away

The angels will laugh
At your sad demise
The people will sing and dance
Under brighter skies

Oh Babylon the great
Your blood is on your hands
Now you must capitulate
To the Lord's demands

The voice of the people
Is the voice of God
You alone dash in
Where angels fear to trod

Mighty Babylon is fallen
Babylon the great
With all its money and power
It can't escape its fate

I heard a mighty sound
Rising up from the earth
A hundred million voices
Proclaiming a new birth

I'm sure Babylon has many years ahead of it. Though the oil crisis, global warming, terrorism, and overpopulation will put a damper on things.
