David,
I just read your post about the Christmas holidays and the sadness that often accompanies them. My husband passed away Nov 29th, just a month ago. I declared a non-Christmas to get through. No tree, no presents, and no ugly Christmas sweaters! We may have different reasons for sadness during the holidays...it is still difficult.

I teach a writing class at the Utah State prison for the men in the substance abuse program. I am inspired every time I hear their stories of courage and strength. I see them grow as they go through the six-week course. Being with "my guys" brings me joy each week. That's what helped me through the holidays, planning my next writing lesson and seeing them again.

Gabby
