RE: Two Months in Ad-Seg (Post).

Greetings,

Today is the 31st of August and I've been here two months now. For sure I've adjusted to the sorry program if it can be called that here. As always, I adapt to whatever my environment offers or don' offer. And this segregation does not have much to offer. I have a little of my property now. But now much, so there's a lot that I can't do yet. I can't even draw too much because the ink pens they issue are not made for drawing, they leak ink constantly and that ruins artwork. So I am kind of staying away from drawing. One thing good though is they give out small pencils but no erasers. I will do a drawing in pencil soon. Its been a long time since I've done anything in pencil.

I've been getting a lot of sunshine here. That's what is good I guess because here the yard is a small dog cage so the sun comes from all sided and the top, it looks like a zoo. There are ten cages, side by side, so I could talk to the prisoners on either side of me. For the first few weeks I watched the routines of the other prisoners and the K-9's. I don't like to exercise in front of people. Well I guess it's because I was used to the Pelican Bay yard and being alone all those years and exercising alone for an hour and a half. It just don't feel right with all these other folks around me. Besides my exercise routine will put those younger prisoners to shame.

When I finally did start to exercise outside I noticed a lot of the other prisoners watching and they started asking what I was doing. One of my sets was the equivalent of 5 times what they were doing, they have never seen anything like it. Of course I'm not trying to show off, it's how I do it. But I figure it best to tone it down so it don't look like I'm trying to make them all look bad. Hell, they are kids. Most of them are in their early twenties and I look like a grandfather around them.

Today is Sunday, its when we are given supplies, it's a big day around here cuz they bring around liquid cleaner to clean the cell and exchange toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes and pass out toilet paper an a bar of soap and pencils. They only give two sheets of writing paper which is what I'm using right now. I was thinking about it last night and couldn't help but laugh how we all are waiting for this day. They also come around with a book cart, they finally had some educational books on it. I finally got a math book. I thought I scored until I was going through it, it turns out it doesn't have algebra or geometry in it and I don't have an answer key so how could I check my work? It only has the problems, but I guess I could still work with it just to pass the time.

I have a good math book in my property but they don't want to give me any of my personal books.

They have some idiot here that called "The Property Officer" and he doesn't do anything around here but cause problems. I've been laying dead to accumulate enough evidence to file a complaint on him for refusing to issue out prisoners property and I am finally putting it into the mix. From now on I'm going to start pushing the issue, it will give me something to do while I'm in here and an asshole who has an attitude, like him, needs to be checked. Everyone that I've spoken to talks about what a piece of crap he is. He doesn't like prisoners to write any type of inmate requests, inquiring about their property. I've told them they need to file on him, that's why he acts like that because no one says anything. We have a right to file grievances, it states so in the prisons rule book so who the hell does he think he is? And it's not going to change unless his supervisors are made aware of his actions....

Changing subjects, it seem that this prison is overcrowded. They say they have no open cells so right now they have a lot of prisoners sitting in ad-seg who are suppose to be on the mainline and it seems every week they are bringing in more and more.

Why the hell do they send more prisoners to this prison knowing it is full makes no damn sense and putting them same guys in the hole, a lot of these guys have not been in the hole before so this is a rude awakening for them, Especially since they are just sitting in a cell with no type of program and the first thing they ask about is a TV which they don't allow back here.

This is baseball and football season so it's the time of year all sports fans have been waiting for...

I still don't know exactly what is going to happen with me. I have to wait until I go to the committee in September then I'll find out what's going on and I'll be sure to let you know.
