Well, I don't know who you're writing about. Yourself or another guy? But anyways, I just wanted to say this: I think being softhearted and kind in a cruel world is tougher as being the "real tough guy". :)
(Having a soft heart in a cruel world is courage, not weakness. <-- I really really like that quote)
