Hello, my name is Robert A. Russell. My friends call me "Russ". I am in the midst of a 30 year prison sentence in the state of California.
Welcome to my blog. I cannot promise you will like all you may read here, but I can assure you it will be real, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I exist in a place of violence and ugliness, yet a place where beauty can sometimes be found. I often witness the very worst of man, and at times I see man at his very best. I have also come to see both sides in myself. I am on a journey to strengthen the best, which just naturally weakens the worst. I would love to share my journey with you, and for you, in turn, to share yours with me. Let's grow together in the Grace and Truth that makes this life worth living.
I am now a grandfather, 46 years old as I write this in 2012. I work as a teaching assistant in a Vocational Office Services Program. At times I also work with others in a 12 Stepp Recovery Program that I have been active in these last few years. I am enrolled in full time study as I pursue degrees in both psychology and Biblical studies. I am working on an eight year educational plan, two years in and right on schedule.
With that I will close with one final thought: It is the bad days that make the good days good.
