A Belated Message to Ms. Peggy Noonan

Ms. Noonan, is a former speech writer for President Ronald W. Reagan; guest TV commentator; columnist for the Wall Street Journal and author.

Long ago I read her book on President Reagan. Since then I have misplaced my notes on title and chapter in which, like me, she bemoaned the conspicuous begging question of: why blacks do not credit and honor President Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969) for his noble, profile and courage, work in passing civil rights legislation. See Face Nation CBS.com (Sun. Aug. 25, 2013) guest: U.S. Rep. (D. GA) John Lewis: Lyndon Johnson never got due credit for civil rights for black folks!

When JFK (1963) and later MLK, Jr. (1968) were assassinated blacks hung up pictures of them side by side in their homes. Facts became lost in myth! Blacks believe JFK - not LBJ - passed civil rights legislation.

Perhaps the new Broadway play "All the Way" - based on the year 1963 of LBJ's illustrious life, starring Bryan Cranston will, long overdue, help to educate them and the global world of the honorable President LBJ's great deeds in advancing black Americans' civil rights.
