Michelle,
I was glad to see you enjoyed my writing. In answering your questions, I would just like to let you know that not only will you be receiving MY opinion, you will also be getting the opinions of a few other guys I know in here. Prison life can be so different from one inmate to another that I decided to do some homework (a lot like I did back around 7-17-12 for Uncguy4321). I asked your questions to a variety of inmates (black, white, rich, poor, straight, gay, violent & non violent offenders) to give you the best answers possible. The answers to some of the questions you asked can vary greatly, depending on what camp you're located at. It's like a real estate agent trying to sell a house. What's the main factors? Location, location, location.
In answering your first question, I honestly don't think your friend has much of anything to worry about. A couple of other guys agree and one of them is charged for raping his own daughter. But he hasn't had any problems in the 7 years he's been down. I've seen different arguments going on where the two guys would be yelling at each other over something & finally one would end it with, "Yeah, well, at least I don't go messing around with little kids." But it's not like anything happened to the guy later who he was yelling at. Now, a couple of my other sources informed me that it will be tougher for him to keep his virginity, shall we say. The main issue is to not let the word child somehow slip into the same sentence as rape. I think it has more to do with what you are, rather than what you've done, that attracts a prison rapist.
Question 2: My opinion is 80%, while my sources ranged from 75% to 90%. The main issue here is to take into consideration the difference in behavior between a true homosexual and a bisexual. True homosexuals seem to want to enjoy a happy relationship with their partners. So when one hits on me & I let them know I'm not interested, & most of the time they just drop the matter & can actually be an alright person to get along with. Whereas your bisexuals are many times these guys who were crazy over women when they were a free man. But now that they can't get their hands on one, they're willing to stick their dick in anything that's warm and wet.
Question 3: First of all, don't forget that some inmates want to be some guy's bitch for money & protection. As for my own view on the matter, I would never subject myself to such a life. I know I have had a real problem with guys seeming to think I would be interested in them. I have had guys offer me money, protection & even offer to work on my case to try to get my sentence shortened. But I would gladly die before becoming some guy's bitch. Any time you got some guy offering to be helpful in those areas, you should know that soon the guy is going to want some kind of payment back. And that's exactly where you're going to pay from.
Just last August I had a situation arise in regards to this subject. My own bunkie, who I knew was a bisexual within 10 min. of him moving in, attempted to make me his bitch 2 1/2 months after moving in. From the very beginning I let him know I was straight and he seemed to accept it with no problem. We got along fine in our 7' x 10' cell, studied sign language together and spent a lot of our lock down time talking, especially in the areas of respect & trust. I thought I was getting him to understand how I (as the minority) wanted to be treated by these forceful bisexuals. And he was acting like he was agreeing. Then one morning he did something that made me realize he had just been trying to get me changed around the whole time & he had finally lost his patience. After he locked the door shut for 7 a.m. count & the officers had gone by doing their counts, he stripped completely naked, told me to get up and drop my drawers or be ready to fight. I'll admit, this was no big gorilla. He was probably my height, maybe an inch taller. But any time you saw him at rec yard, he was working out. So I knew this wasn't going to be a confrontation that would end in my favor unless I was lucky. So after sitting up on my bunk, I decided to use a little psychological warfare to keep this a painless & bloodless battle. I said, "Wow, man. Are you serious? Here all this time I thought you were different from the rest of these barbaric baboons. All these talks we've had about respect & trust and come to find out you didn't know a thing you were talking about. I guess those guys back in the county jail really did know what they were talking about when they told me if I ever hear the word trust, run like hell. I just can't believe I was stupid enough to believe that your word meant something." As I'm saying all of this stuff, his head slowly starts to droop until he was staring at the floor in shame. And by the time I was done with everything I could think to say (remember, there was still about a 1/2 hour left before count time was over & the doors would unlock) he was putting his pants back on. (If you wish to know how I handled the matter from that point, let me know. I definitely wasn't just going to forget it happened.) I guess one of the main things that determines this too is when a guy has just finally given up the fight. He just throws in the towel & allows himself to be used. In prison it's easy for some guys to lose what morals they had as a free man, especially those with life sentences.
Question 4: As far as the treatment of younger prisoner goes, they can catch hell from the officers right off the bat. It's a tactical maneuver to scare the inmates from coming back. They will really treat them like dirt, but after a couple of years things start to cool off. It's usually their own rowdy & immature behavior that gets them the most trouble. As with other inmates goes, they look upon them as the easiest targets for getting money & for sexual purposes. Like I said earlier, you've just got to not give up the fight and hope to God you don't end up somewhere (location, location, location) that's just got the wrong guys there who will run a train on you. (That means 5 sex hungry guys on 1 vulnerable guy).
Question 5: An inmate in medium custody will be spending his time in open bay dorms. Unless he's passing through a camp or some other kind of oddball incident occurs. I know in my case, I'm close custody & am only to be housed in dorms with cells. But when I went to a particular camp for health purposes, I spent 5 months in an open bay dorms, since it was all they had. So things can vary around a little, depending on the circumstances.
Question 6: I really haven't noticed any differences in the treatment of inmates due to the color of their skin by the officers. And one of my sources, who is a black guy, agrees. He had this to say, "In society it's black & white; in prison it's blue & brown." When it comes to the fellow inmates, there is still a little friction. But considering there is around twice as many blacks as whites in here, guess who needs to worry.
Well, I truly hope that I have been able to give you helpful & informative answers to your questions. Hope to hear back from you soon.
