My First Blog

This is my first time making a blog. It's a relatively new thing that was just getting started when I was in the "free world". Now I've ran across Between the Bars, and they create blogs for inmates for free. So here I am!

I'm hoping to be able to make new friends and contacts through this. I'll be out in a year or less, and would like to have positive people be a part of my life so that I can stay away form any negative influences that could send me back in prison. I hope that I will be able to meet some new people through this blog or from the ads that I've posted on pen-pal websites.

Much of my family, with the exception of my aunt, is doing "their thing". They rarely, if ever, write letters. I don't get visits and don't receive financial support. My aunt has stuck by me through my times in the county jail and in prison. I guess that everyone else is too busy to be concerned with me. No, I'm not trying to throw a pity party here—just looking to express myself.

I'm in prison for "failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements." My story is like this: When I was 18 years old, I made a couple of mistakes, really due to not knowing that I was breaking the law, and had relationships with a 14 year old girl and 15 year old boy. Separately, that is. These were consensual relationships except for them not being "of age" to consent in the state of Texas. I was placed on probation for 10 years. I failed to comply when I was convicted, without notice from the place I was living. I take responsibility for my wrongdoings as well as the life I was living while on probation. I ended up receiving 2 years for the original offenses and 5 years for the "failure to comply". All I can do now is finish up my time and look for a brighter future ahead.

The unit (Mark Stiles) has been on lockdown since March 9th. Someone escaped from here. There's no telling how much longer that we will be on lockdon for. Three might be on lockdown for another month, who know? There are so many different rumors floating around.

I've recently had a great person come into my life named Vance. I hope he turns out in the long term to be the friend that he seems like he will be. Only time will tell!

I hope to meet a bunch of new friends between now and my release! I want to have people that I can call my friend when I hit the free world again! I'd like to meet some people that I could have in my life for sometime to come. My contact information is on my profile, so all I can do is sit here and hope that people find me!
