"MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES"
On Tuesday morning September 22, 2020 at 2 am two of our mentally ill inmates housed just down the hall from me began arguing and cussing at each other. After about 30 minutes of that they began reaching outside the cell bars and throwing water around the corner on each other. Both of these mentally ill inmates have and continue to disturb the rest of the wing, where their mental health issues have been effecting us, and weighing on the rest of the wings mental wellbeing. These inmates are in their 70's, they constantly talk to themselves when their not arguing with one another. They haven't went out to recreation in years. Because of what they do, they sit in these little cages calling black men n___ers and calling other inmates every foul word under the sun. And they know you can't get to them, which encourages this type of behavior. And they've been doing it for so long, that its become normal to them. The deprivation of sun light and fresh air is enough to drive anyone mad!! And these men haven't seen the blue sky and sunshine in decades. For years I've been trying to get the administration to set up a wing, that would personally house the mentally ill, so they aren't taking a mental toll on us men, who are trying to hold on to our sanity in these harsh conditions of solitary confinement. But the state doesn't want to recognize these inmates psychological problems, which results in the rest of us suffering psychological damage, not only from struggling with solitary confinement, but these other inmates psychological and mental health issues. This isn't a game, its life and death where our mental and physical health is in play and at grave risk of being mentally scared for the rest of our lives. The FDOC is clearly doing a piss poor job at managing these institutions and looking out for our mental health. Someone up top needs to acknowledge that you have mentally ill inmates sentenced to death, and the need for special housing. And I'm going to continue to write about this, until someone pays attention. God bless you all. And pray for our sanity.
Sincerely Ronald Wayne Clark Jr.
