Dr. Phil Part 2
Dear Dr. Phil,
I wrote a post some time ago basically letting you know about who I am, what I've been through, and the direction I'd like my life to go. I was hoping maybe someone would read that post and through one way or another it would find your desk and I'd hear from you. Unfortunately it hasn't but I'm not giving up on contacting you so I'm writing again.
My name is Marcus. I was born and raised in California but I've also lived in New York and various parts of Wisconsin. My life has pretty much been a collection of poor choices and decisions ultimately resulting in incarceration consuming most of my life.
I'm 30 years old and I've served a total of 16 years of my life in Juvenile halls, group homes, jail and prison. I'm tired of living like this and I need help. I'm doing the work while on the inside by participating in treatment and obtaining vocational trades but the truth is I always do good in control environments. I need help once I'm out and I'm able to live like a normal man on the streets faced with the responsibilities of the real world.
I have nine grand in restitution to pay with parole fees, no work history, clothes, housing, transportation, driver's license, and I've never had to pay bills or just be responsible for myself... the idea of it all scares the hell out of me.
I watch your show daily and although you're a hard ass, you're real, and you leave no stone unturned helping those you choose to embrace... I want your help. I don't want money or hand outs... I want advice, guidance, support, and counseling that leads me in the direction to do things on my own out there. I do not want to fail myself or others "ever" again.
I'm unsure if this post will find you but maybe someone is reading it and can help or impact my life in the way I'd like you to... then that's just as good. Maybe someone reading this can get it to you... I don't know? All I do know is I'm reaching out to you or anyone listening saying I don't want to fail any more and I need to be brave enough to ask for help... will you help me?
Take care and I hope to hear from you or someone one day before I get out.
