The Jeff Probst show

Recently, in discussing his show cancellation Probst posed the rhetorical questions: how can there not be an audience for a show like this highlighting [spotlighting] everyday peoples' extraordinary lives.

This blogger postulates this apparent viable response.

This is no longer the breezy America of Phil Donahue show where all open minds (not only left and right side) were vigorously engaged and the audience morphed into the real host-interveiwer.

Indeed, MSNBC fired Donahue in 2002, for his anti-Iraq War views.

This is the New America of ABC theview.com "hot topics" replicated ad infinitum; of "Fox American Idol" - Simon Cowell, whom was recently stoned with boiled eggs in London; of Rush and Hannity' of gangster rap' of the divisive American House and Senate. And don't forget the seminal Jerry Springer Show.

This is the new "hot issues" burn and slash leave no prisoners behind United States of America.

And!! "NBC The Voice".com offers a glimmer of keeping hope alive [the nice guy/girl can win!]

Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. It is interesting to hear about American TV. The Voice only came over to the UK last year, but it has done a lot better than the X Factor which makes me happy, although admittedly I do quite like Simon Cowell.
