(Listening to "Heaven" by a group I like called otherwise. This is an excellent song). I sit here reading my neighbours USA Today newspaper and I read that President Obama vowed to give Africa 7 billion US dollars in order to strengthen their electrical grid. $7 billion US dollars. Now I will never understand the US foreign relations policies but if we do the maths, the US government gives away hundreds of billions of US tax payer dollars every month to other countries and it's always disguised under the term "foreign aide". President Obama has given away over 1 trillion US dollars to Afghanistan, and in the papers it always says "to help rebuild and strengthen the infrastructure". My question is still, why? Why are we giving away trillions of US dollars every year, not getting any of it back, where our own country is in dire need of help. The homeless problem. And I was homeless for a short time. The housing mess that Presidents Bush and Obama created. As a kid, I never knew what going hungry was. If we had little or no food, I stole. But both of my parents worked and we normally and food. And there were always food centres for the poor. The USA is deep in debt. President Obama is putting this country in such financial debt, it will never recover. And I am not an idiot. I do know that one man cannot fix this. You need a team and each team member should be an expert in his specific field. But Obama doesn't do that. He continues to choose inexperience to be in his cabinet and he says everyone deserves a chance to prove they are good enough. But I say no, not right now. This is not the time to "just get by". Now is the time to take charge of this and meet the problem head on with a team of the best in the country to help solve the debt crisis, the housing mess, and the poor. All you ever hear is Obama talk about the "middle class". And his middle class bracket consists of people making $50,000 or more. But what about the poor? Why does he continue to discuss only the rich and the middle class? I'll tell you, no one cares about the poor. Obama has never been poor. He's a multi-millionaire himself. So is his wife. Remember this year he took a 20% pay cut for this year, that turned out to be a whopping $18,000 off of his $200,000 yearly salary. I am not an Obama fan. I'm not a political fan of anyone. But I know that Obama is not doing a good job. He was only elected to give someone else a chance. This country is tired of old white men ruining it. We haven't had a good President since Clinton and he could have been better. I don't care about Republican or Democrat, they need to form an alliance and do what's best for this country. President Obama loves to spend his time with rappers, movie stars, sports figures, it's in the papers every week, but when is he going to sit down and do his job and put the USA first? Are we first? It doesn't feel like it. The papers reported a story on Michelle Obama last year. First Lady Michelle Obama has 12 personal assistants. The only First Lady to ever have more was our last President Bush's wife. Her name eludes me at this moment. She had 15. But each personal assistant makes $80,000+ per year. It is about 1 million bucks per year for her personal assistants salaries. Why is that money being wasted? I just don't understand why our country is so wasteful with money. We spend so much more than we have. What about social security? Will Obama get rid of it? If so, how will the elderly survive? Only a small percentage of people can afford to save money for their retirement. My mum lives of her small social security disability check. This country needs a leader and Obama has not filled that role. He has failed as President and he has failed almost 400 million Americans. I don't have any of the answers, I'm not an expert in anything, but I do know that we are far from being okay. The jobless rate is very high. The amount of people on welfare is high, the homeless, poor, they are always forgotten by Obama. We need someone who will stand up for everyone, not just the wealthy. And to me, someone who makes $50,000 per year is wealthy. My brother works his ass of for 21 grand a year, but that's not enough to support his family on. I am not unsympathetic to others. Greece is in bad shape. Italy, Spain, Portugal, they're getting there also. But in order to help someone else, you must first help yourself, you must first be ready to help. And the USA can't even help itself right now. The jobs numbers are misleading. Obama says he created millions of jobs. But ask him, how many of those jobs pay in his middle class range of $50,000+ per year? I'll bet not that many. And it is not just his fault. It is our entire governments fault. We need change in Washington D.C. but we will never get it unless the American people stand up and say enough is enough. DId you know that, this was on a major news story, that the US government has many perks. Everyone in congress gets the perk of having a government car leased for them, which is paid for by using taxpayer dollars. Millions are wasted every year on this. They get hair cuts in the capital building, these hair cuts cost hundreds of dollars each and Presidents just gave the barber shop a 3 million tax payer bail out. Why does a barber shop that charges hundreds per cut need a bail out? Something's fishy about that one. I leave you with this, our government wastes trillions of tax payer dollars each year on everything from their cars and their $10 cups of coffee, all the way to rebuilding countries we are at war with. When are we going to help ourselves first? I am not a wasteful person and I hate to see how our government is wasting money that we need to help fix this country. I want to add these to articles from the USA Today newspaper. Everyone knows I am against the death penalty. Read this article about Texas' 500th killing. And the other is about the Sesame Street Muppets going to jail. Texas has killed 5-- people in less then 40 years. That's an appalling number. (And there was no article in the USA Today the next day to confirm if she was killed or not so I still don't know if this woman is alive, the media just decided to forget about someone being killed). Some people need prison. But our country has the "Lock 'em up and throw away the key" mentality. We don't care about why they did what they did. We only want to punish. When will we start to help people instead of just focusing on punishing? As always, I look forward to questions, comments, any feedback. Positive or negative, if you want me to, I will respond to your comments. Leave a comment or write to me directly. Take care and thanks for listening to me. I look forward to hearing from you readers. Until then, God bless. Ciao.
