I let all the inmates read this, they laughed and said, that's not true. Water sits on the yard for days on end. Mosquitoes are breeding out there, and there's a hole out there in the volleyball court I twisted an ankle in it and my knee. We have to remove the water that's standing, with old t-shorts and towels, so water is not brushed away prior to us going to rec. We need this concrete that was never poured right to begin with to be fixed.

From Ronald J. Clark 5/28/14:

I'm grieving the fact that P Dorm recreational yards need to be resurfaced. There's holes in the concrete and it was unevenly put down from day one, the water does not drain off when it rains, which then allows for standing water and mosquitoes are able to breed. This is a major issue of health and safety that needs to be addressed. For the above reasons this grievance should be approved and the concrete recreational yard resurfaced. Thank you.

RESPONSE Capt. Jokawski 6/2/14:

Denied, as for standing water due to low areas in the concrete pad. Standing water is brushed away prior to and during recreation. I have not observed any holes in the pad to cause a security concern.

Inmates also read this and laughed, cause it's not true. The only way they bring us in is if there's lightening. Otherwise it can be 15 degrees and raining or 105 degrees with 100% hunidity. There's no grass to sit on, or shading, yet the officers have a bench with covering, so that shows that we need sheltering as well.

From Ronald J. Clark 5/29/14:
I'm grieving the fact that P Dorm recreation yards have no sheltering for us to get out of the way of rain, or the sun on hot humid days. This is needed so inmates can have a place to stand or sit, especially since we are given 3 hour recreation periods where we sometimes are having to stand on hot concrete in 100 degree temperatures and the humidity in the 90%. Sheltering is clearly needed for this is a health and safety issue. This grievance therefore needs to be approved and a shelter constructed. Thank you. Ronald W. Clark jr

RESPONSE Capt. Jokawski 6/2/14:
Denied, First, if the weather gets to be inclement yard will be stopped. If the recreation yard is cancelled because it's too cold or hot, it will be documented. Yard for you and others are rotated (am/pm) in order to get morning and afternoon experience.

Just wrote up a formal complaint dealing with this that I'll be sending to the Inspector General, OSHA, CDC and Warden as well as secretary crews. This is a serious issue, and probably the reason I get sicj 2 to 3 times a year. The standards here are garbage. We have mould on the food trays, in the showers, 'standards', really ! What standards of third world country. I'm not done with this issue. I do expect retaliation for speaking out.
