Investigation of Wisconsin Prison for abuse of Prisoners in Isolation
Waupun, Wisconsin, in the Now News— due to two Wisconsin organizations, namely Forum for Understanding Prisons (FFUP), a 501 c3 nonprofit (prisonforum.org, donations welcome and tax deductible), and Wisconsin Investigative Reporters, Investigation and Advocacy, the US Department of Justice has agreed to conduct a formal investigation into prisoners in the segregation unit and their claims of assault and abuse by named prison guards assigned to work in that unit.
We should expect changes out of this federal investigation.
Personal note: though not a part of this particular case, I too was a victim when I was there in circa 2009.
