"You can run and run as fast and as far as you like but the truth is, wherever you run, there you are."—Cecelia Ahern, Love, Rosie

Dear Readers,

Howdy!

Okay, so I left off when I was just getting out of the Hole (SHU/Segregation). Well, right before you get out, the property officer here (this has never happened elsewhere) has you sign off on your property form (the inventory of your property the CO packed from your cell) and makes you write "None" on the form to indicate that none of your property is missing.

This institution will use this to deny any tort claims (claims for missing property) by claiming that you acknowledged that no property was missing—all without your even getting to check on the any of your property on your own. Even when you file a tort claim and it's denied for whatever reason, an inmate has no legal recourse because the Supreme Court ruled that we don't (can't remember which case that was, but it's true).

So... your property is packed in a large, green military-style duffel bag. At every other institution, I've had several duffel bags of property. At El Reno though I've only had one bag. Why? Because the COs here will fill up one bag only, and the rest of your property they discard or give to other inmates. All of this is property which we are allowed to have and which we purchase from commissary. So they screw your and intentionally prevent you from filing a tort claim.

Each time I've gone to the Hole, I've lost hundreds of dollars worth of my property. This past time I'm describing, they threw away a $109 SPO (purchase order) alone, along with the second mesh gyon bag I've had to buy. These take up hardly any space. All of my shampoos and lotions, typewriter ribbon, correction tape, etc., etc. Cool scam, huh?

Anyway, so I'm given this huge duffel bag which probably comes up to my lower ribs and it's heavy as hell. Now, I'm skinny as a nail, 6'2", and 162 lbs. yet the COs order you to carry the duffel bag across the compound to laundry first to get sheets and such, and then across the compound again to your unit.

I had to get help to get the bag straps around my shoulders—which caused scratches and bruises all up my arms—and I was expected to carry this thing in 100 degree heat across the compound. By the way, I'm not in the best health either. I was bent over double at the waist trying to carry this damn bag and it was killing me. Halfway back from the laundry, I gave up and confiscated a trash cart and used that. These sick people are sadists.

So I finally got back to the unit after only nine days gone only to find that "wonderful" Shay, my gay cellie, has let two guys move in so I have to find somewhere else to live. Shay tells me some lie about how they paid to move into the cell (even though they moved out the following week) a large amount.

I later discover that ghetto-trash Shay stole my mirrors and my nightlight and kept the radio that I specifically asked him to make sure got packed. The radio was all I got back and was told lies about the rest of my property. There's no telling what else he took. Fucking trash.

I ended up being put in a cell with a quiet closet case Mexican. He was okay except for one thing: he left his radio on blasting through his headphones ALL NIGHT LONG. WTF? I've been locked up for 11 years and not until I came to this shithole place El Reno did I have any cellies who were some completely disrespectful and rude that they insisted on blasting their radio out loud (instead of putting their damn headphones on their head). I've now had three cellies here who did that. Insane.

Also when I got back, I learned that my first cellie, the Psycho Bitch "Ricky Bobby", was spreading the usual BS about me, e.g. that I was locked up for spreading AIDS around the compound. This Horevity is a very sick individual. His own mother won't have anything to do with him.

Needless to say, I was treated like a total pariah. I was dirt and I've never felt so uncomfortable. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

To be continued...

Love and blessings,
Kelly

I almost forgot my password! But I succeeded!
Hello Kelly, how long it has been!!! How are you doing?!I hope and pray all is well with you. ;))I missed you a lot, my my...
I see a few months went by.
I am here now in Mt Sterling, visiting George.
I had had the 6hr visits on weekdays.
When i flew to the airport of Milwaukee- his dad preferred so- because he lives in Wisconsin,we drove many miles!to reach our hotel in Mt Sterling.John, a friend drove us, like usually.
We arrived rather late to visit George. There we heard we had to register in the morning already!Next a female warden shouted: don't put money, but I already did because I had haste! Then we heard George was in segregation!
And his dad(92) could only visit 2 days!
The next day we heard in the "1 hour" visit that he was there because he had received a ACTIVIST newsletter(socialistic); can you imagine!!!He got it before and they also let it come in!!
A warden who had managed to put him 2 weeks in segregation before, searched his room and managed to do it AGAIN!So now, I can visit him ONLY twice a month for only 1 hour, Kelly. :(
He had given me a name to call, from someone who could eventually help him. This man did look after his case, but we'll have to wait for the response of Internal Affairs and that investigation could take up to a month!
It's real sad; i came from so far and get only 4 hours for those 2 months.
Today George turned 67 and we spoke the second time behind glass...I can't buy anything either. He is cuffed. We still can laugh though.I've still the 1st of July and the 8th with his dad.I stay after the last visit in an motel close to the airport. The next day I fly back to Belgium.
So now I see with my own eyes what he has to go through, Kelly :(
I can't get in my email, and had to make a new account; but this I could get into.
Have you heard from the attacks by terrorists on March 22nd? It changed our view for ever...
On the 28th of January Lars was born, a brother to Lynn. She is very intelligent and 2 and 5 months old now. Their parents are Elke and Bart.;)
Leslie and Philip decided to stay in America, San Diego. They bought a house there and just moved.
Well,I would love to hear from you!

x Rita
