Snake Bite

Snake Bite
written 3/1/16

Dreams
while awake
the sting of them
feel like
the bites of snakes.
Dreams while sleep
caused by the hope
death would seem
so much more
appealing.
It's not as though
I've lost all hope
meant to lose
meant to live
no life away from you
No life worth living
is how the chains
bind.
Catches hold to keep me
tormented in my mind.
Inside the mind
no sense of time
to torment me
it runs together
in a string of lost things
fragments born
of memories
I'd rather just forget
But doing so is easier
than just
remembering the strain
caused by the bites
of snakes
as they sink in.
