Dear Secretary Jones,

What's going on here in the FDOC is an atrocity, an abomination, and just another stain on the Florida Dept. of Corrections.

I filed Informal Grievance Log#205-1603-0740 and Formal Grievance Log#1604-205-114 only to have them shot down. The appeal has been filed to you as of this morning. Surely you will never view it. One of your representatives will no doubt deny it. Probably with little more than a computer generated response. I doubt they'll even take the time to read it. In fact, this letter will never reach your desk until one of the senators, house reps, or media brings it to your attention.

Please understand, and not to be disrespectful, but I will not quit until I succeed in getting my education. I refuse to remain an ignorant, uneducated hostage in the Florida Dept. of Correction. I insist on removing this poor uneducated White trash status that has loomed over my head my entire life.

I'm on a quest of self-improvement. In February 2016, I got rid of the idiot box (television) and began studying in order to educate myself. I've asked and pleaded with the DOC for their assistance, only to run into one brick wall after another. I give credit where credit is due. And Assistant Warden Edwards tried to make this happen, only to run into a brick wall himself.

Let's look at these facts: Procedure 501.100, Section (2)(e) establishes grounds for me to enter the education programming.

Let's now look at any security issues and/or any extra staffing that would be required. The GED classes are conducted in the AC Visiting Park during the weekdays. This classroom/visitation room has ten (10) secure one-man security cells that is equipped for the highest level in security. The cells are equipped with a seat and a fold-down table that would easily accommodate me.

Now this same room is where I have weekly visits with family and friends. I'm in this room with officers, population inmates (canteen man and photographer), and the Warden or Duty Wardens who make their rounds.

I say this to make my point: the officers whom are seated at the desk during weekend visits are in no greater number than those seated in the class during GED courses. I don't wish to roam around or socialize. I would be content with sitting in the small one-man security cell for 4, 6, 8 hours a day without a bathroom break (my kidneys are good) and learning in preparation for my GED.

There's no penological justification for denying me of an education. The only reason I can see in denying me of this educational self-bettering experience is to keep me in a state of ignorance, a state for which I no longer wish to remain in. And a state for which I hope that you no longer want me to remain in, for education and self-betterment is the key to corrections.

Thank you very much for your time and hopefully your help.

Sincerely,
Ronald W. Clark Jr.
