Amanda, it's all in the mindset of a person how their perspective is on things. Some people don't know how to love because they weren't taught the correct. All that was in my house. My step-dad abused my ma and us, yelling and cursing. My step-dad was molesting me from 4 to 13 years old. So when people showed me true love, I wouldn't know their motives behind what they were doing.

Some people don't love themselves because they have been devalued by others so much till they're hard on themselves. "I don't look good. Nobody will ever be my friend, want to be around me. I am a nobody." They treat themselves as a nobody when they are really somebody valuable in life. Can I be a truthful being and pull away from myself because I am my own worst enemy?

Listen to the negative voices in my life where others had spoken negative, like my mom, etc. I hate to say this, but God will allow a bad situation to happen just so you can discover who you are. I am a good person with good merits and value, but I was empty on the inside. There was a void in that inside that had to be filled with the love of Christ. Then he taught me how to love myself, him (God), and my family and friends. Then I discovered I had a purpose on earth. My talents are many. I use them to help others.

But there are so many people coming from broken homes, even some from good families, who don't know what true love is. I want to say I love you, God loves you, and there is a purpose he has for you on this earth.

I leave you with Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Be encouraged. Keep your head up. There is purpose in you.
