The Golden Rule
Love, mercy, compassion, and charity towards others is never exclusive. The Golden Rule, the Matthew Rule, must apply to all. We see this in Christ's teachings in Matthew 5:43-48, where he teaches us to love our enemy and pray for those who persecute us. I do pray for these staff members who are doing me and others wrong. I pray that God will touch their hearts and lead me into doing His will. Most can't or won't do what I'm doing, standing up to change things and better these conditions for my fellow man.
When we look at Christ's compassion towards all who are suffering. He identifies himself with the homeless, the needy, even the prisoner (see Matthew 25:31-46, specifically verses 35, 36, 42, 44). That's a powerful statement: "What you did for one of the least of these brothers, you did for me." When you see that homeless person or individual suffering and in need, please think of the Golden Rule and reach out to them. For we are justified by our works and not by faith alone (see James 2:24), and there's many related scriptures to James 2:14-26: "For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead."
Yes, "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law of of the prophets." (Matthew 7:12) This bigoted hatred towards others because we're black, white, Hispanic, Democrat, Republican, etc. is getting us nowhere. You don't like what President Trump is doing. Fine. Pray for him to change or vote him out of office. But the division out there is not productive.
Look at each individual with compassion and mercy, for we are all fallible human beings. So do to others as you would have them to you. May God bless you all.
In love, mercy, and compassion
