Hello Mr. Musicologist,
I was glad to see you enjoyed my latest addition. I've come up with some oddball inventions on my own, but nothing worth writing about. I lack a real sense of imagination. So the only worthwhile things I've ever designed were subdivisions (back in my days of working) and... oh wait! There are my mazes. Now those require some imagination.
You asked about my reading preferences. There are a number of things in my locker right now that I'm finding quite interesting. 1st, my sign language book that I take out during 7 A.M. count and learn six new signs each weekday. 2nd, How to Win Friend and Influence People by Dale Carneigie. His original was back in 1936, but I'm reading an updated version. 3rd, Everything Scrabble. I quit playing a few years back because my game got stolen. However, this dorm has a game for everyone to use. So I've been doing a little of studying.
There's an older French gentleman in my dorm who loves to play. He's not all that good, and he takes forever to make a play. I just like amusing him and passing the time away. We have it set that when he gets out in 2 1/2 years, he's going to look me up on this blog and we'll somehow draw up a Scrabble board, make ourselves some letters, and then I guess hope that neither one of us cheats. Could you imagine waiting over two weeks just to read the words: "Go again. I'm going to exchange some letters."
Back to my preferences: 4th, Astronomy Magazine. I got a major cut rate on a subscription due to being a prisoner, and I'm fascinated by our cosmos. 5th, we all need a reason to laugh so my brother got me a subscription to Mad Magazine. 6th, last but certainly not least, are the letters I receive from people I've never even met. It's made possible by some kind of blog service or something, and I'm just doing what I can to keep them amused.
Okay, that's it for what's in my locker. Now if I go to the library, I usually like to get some murder mystery or perhaps something by John Grisham. I guess my far extreme would be Tim Dorsy (that guy's a nut).
I questioned a different crowd of gentlemen this time and seem to be receiving the same answer as last time regarding any serious interests in music. The closest thing I came to was some guy telling me about some non-credit class he had seen at another camp that dealt with the basics like reading music. Sorry I can't help.
I was able to find a guy in my dorm who has the song "Binded by The Light" so I could listen to it a few times. A number of guys and myself were all drawn to how now the song actually had some understandable meaning. Thanks for the lyrics you sent.
Well, I'll let you go there. Don't worry. In a month, when I make a request for some more lyrics, the letter won't be this long. Thanks for leaving the message, and I hope everything is going your way at AMS.
