MEMORANDUM

To Secretary Mark Inch, Assistant Regional Director John Palmer, Warden Anderson, Senator Randolph Bracy, House Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith.

From Ronald W. Clark Jr #812974
Union correctional institution
PO Box 1000
Raiford, Fl. 32083
Date August 17, 2019

Subject Procedure 602.036 (2),(a) 2. Privacy Screening.

This procedure which reads, "Inmates will not be supervised by officers of the opposite gender while inmates are showering or in the toilet area unless appropriate privacy screening is provided to obscure from view." isn't being taken serious here at Union correctional institution. Here in P-dorm our cells have open front, where female staff nurses, classification, Assistant Warden etc can see us sitting on the toilet. We are not allowed to hang up any type of privacy screening. And we're required to get decent, off the toilet when these females enter our living/restroom area. Further more the inmates in population do not have privacy screening on their showers, as P-dorm does. Which results in male inmates being exposed to the female staff members. Which puts this institution in violation of this procedure. Inmates in the past have been jumped on, and verbally abused by staff, for simply trying to shower in population dorms, while a female is making rounds. So proper privacy screening needs to be installed in population dorm showers, as well as P-dorm cells to comply with procedure 602.036 (2)(a) 2. And put UCI in compliance. Thank you.
