Dear Christian Senators and Representatives 3/26/22
I send you many warm wishes and salutations from Florida's Death Row. A living hell that has been created by our Legislators, and created in the name of God Justice and the American way. Let's start off by saying the death penalty itself has no connection to Christ. This is a sentence that is arbitrarily and capriciously handed out, for one bad reason after another. And the evidence is right in front of our face, within the FDOC, where you see men and women serving life sentences for the same exact crime, and sometimes more severe crimes than the men and women on death row. If that's not enough for you, look at how many men and women who have been exonerated, just here in Florida, who some prosecutor convinced 12 jurors and a judge that this human being was beyond any type of rehabilitation, and was deserving of extermination. Yet these exonerated men and women have returned to society, to be productive law-abiding citizens. If that doesn't speak volumes for this flawed system, then how about thinking just for a moment, what the scriptures teach us. Love, Mercy, and Compassion, yes those are the foundation of our Christian faith. Without those, we can forget all about Grace. I've witnessed several times our so called Christian Legislators pushing through bad Bills just like this SB1220 and that 2013 timely justice act, where you are passing these Bills that have no purpose other than the taking of human life, and then you're jumping up and down, clapping and giving each other high fives, celebrating a Bill/Law that's sole purpose is to destroy human life. Think about that for a moment. I would encourage you to go back and watch it. Especially watch then House Rep now Congressman Matt Gaetz celebration. It's all on tape. And it's so disturbing! And there's nothing Christ-like about it. And it's not anything that I as a Christian would be proud of. What happened with the Pro-Life stance? We know the death penalty has, and always will be a catastrophic failure. To think otherwise is to deceive yourself. This same death penalty that you support, was used over 2,000 years ago to murder Christ and the apostles, along with many other Christians. I know what you're going to say, "But they were innocent." Well technically they broke Roman law. The Romans had passed a bad law, where religion could only be taught within the synagogue. But let's not split hairs there. Let's look at what our savior's response to the death penalty was.
John 8:3:11
"3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5. Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say? 6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. 8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? 11 She said, No one, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."
Christ not once, teaches you to have a vengeful heart. Not once does he teach you to hate someone and go seek revenge. And let's lay it all on the line, he teaches you to have Love, Mercy and Compassion for those in prison. Matthew 25:31:46. And that comes straight from the lips of our Lord and savior. There's no way to misinterpret that. And the goats aren't nonbelievers, no they are believers who are just failing miserably at applying the teachings of Christ to their everyday lives. And when I see our Christian Legislators acting with total disregard for human life, I see men and women who are disregarding what Christ taught. Men and women who are on the wrong path. The path of the goat to final judgement. For actions always speak louder than words that fall so easily from our tongues. For it is written James 2 14-17 "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." Which takes us to none other than, "The Golden Rule" Matthew 6:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law of the Prophets." And remember what Christ said in Matthew 7:1,2 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgement you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you." Which is repeated in Luke 6:37,38 Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you." Again we have a death penalty that is anything but just. And I'm asking you to open your eyes, your ears and most of all your heart. See the Florida death penalty for what it is, a "FAILED LAW" that has no connection to your Pro-Life stance. That is absent of true Christian believes. And that fails miserably in the evolving standards of human decency. I ask, no I pray that you will open your heart and examine this evil vindictive sentence that needs to be abolished form our laws. May God bless you and lead you to true righteousness.
In Peace love and Mercy
Ronald Wayne Clark Jr.
