"THE HAVE AND HAVE NOTS IN A CHRISTIAN NATION"
The FDOC and our Christian Legislature has created a have and have not divide within the Department of Corrections if you can call it Corrections. And if things weren't hard enough on inmates, and their families, the FDOC and our Christian Legislature has just created several rules 33-203.201 Inmate Trust Fund, and 33-201.101 Routine Mail to further complicate our lives and make it more difficult to write send money and assist us in our daily lives. Most people are under the impression that the FDOC provides inmates with everything they need. Well if you're under that impression, you're severely mistaken. We get one roll of toilet paper and small bar of soap every Tuesday and one 3oz tube of toothpaste every month. The bar of soap is the size you would get in a hotel room for a one night stay, only a much lower quality of soap's that has no scent. And the toilet paper is a one ply tissue. It may last three days if you're lucky. You can purchase toilet paper at $1.00 a roll from the canteen. Yes the soap, toothpaste and toilet paper that the FDOC provides is as low a quality as you can possibly find. And this isn't just my opinion, that come directly from the dentist, who told me you're not getting proper fluoride, and asked me what kind of toothpaste I was using. I told him state toothpaste. He said, "it doesn't contain proper fluoride, you need to purchase some off the canteen." And the FDOC doesn't provide dental floss, deodorant or shampoo. Which are necessities for proper hygiene. Yes the FDOC has enacted 33-203.201 Inmate Trust Fund where only approved visitors can send the inmates money. And if you want to send money by money order to get away from these outrageously high Jpay service fees then you've got to send a photo copy of your driver's license. Most people aren't going to want Jpay having that. Yes the FDOC and our right wing "Christian" legislatures don't want inmates to have anything. Which made me think of the following scripture.
1st John 3:16-18
"16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But if anyone has the worldly goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."
So how does God's love abide in these so called "Christian" legislatures that push inmates into sinful, immoral and unethical acts?
See even before this overbearing rule, I had spoken with inmates in population who turn what is called "Gay for the stay". And these are usually inmates who have no financial means. So what they will do, is find them a man who has financial means, and perform sexual favors for him in order to have canteen items. Those inmates who sell themselves are usually passed around from inmate to inmate to spread HIV, Hepatitis and venereal diseases. Which in the long run cost the FDOC, state of Florida and its tax payers millions of dollars as well as spreading that infection when the inmate is released. I was talking with an Inmate several years ago who was not gay, but was prostituting his self, and I was questioning him about his reason for doing this. He said, "Look I've got no family support, I got no financial means but I've never had to eat out of the kitchen, I've always had a locker full of canteen." But I said, "The things you have to do for it, is not only sinful, but degrading, dehumanizing and its a risk to your health and very existence." This inmate I'm speaking of had Hep C and was HIV positive. He's no longer with us. He died several years ago. This is the reality of what the FDOC has created with this 21st century slave plantation. One percent of the inmates in the FDOC have paying jobs. Those inmates work for PRIDE, which consist of the tag plant hear at UCI and the dental lab. The only other paying job is the canteen. But the reality of it is this, the state already is punishing the confinement and feed us poor quality food, which forces the inmates to eat out of the canteen where the contractor is now price gouging the families with overpriced low quality items. While the poor family is trying to make sure their loved ones survive the stay on this 21st century slave plantation, that our Christian government has created. All in the name of God Justice and the American way! And when I think of these so called Christians, I look at their works. Because we know that faith without works is dead! See James 2:14-17
"14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
And yet the works of these Christian Legislatures are not works of compassion, love or mercy, they do not resemble the teachings of Christ, but they do resemble works of pure evil. May God have Mercy because we can't find it on this 21st century slave plantation.
