I have read both responders' comments. To Nicki I say thank you for such a vigorous, compassionate response. Your comments are always welcome.
To SAH though I must first say I am truly sorry you were the victim of any crime. For your information my crime has no victims. I was convicted of protesting Government policies in a way the Govt. found objectionable. But I have met many rapists, murderers and thugs of all kinds in prison. Many are very unpleasant and many of them should not ever be released from prison. But the majority of prisoners are not persons who have acted out of malice. There are men on Wall Street who are free who have caused more harm to more people than anyone in prison. I have had officers beat me and spray me with mace simply because I made a facetious statement. I ask you this, how are crime victims better off when Government actors have free reign to be as sadistic as imaginable? We are all better off through compassion, not singling individuals out for some notion of 'justifiable torture'. Think about it.
