This company is price gouging and the FDOC is allowing it.

[copy of a Death Row Canteen Order, complete with prices and handwritten comments in places]

You can turn in this order once a week, spending up to $100.00 a week. And some guys can afford to do that, most of us can't. And the DOC doesn't want us to run a business. Which is stupid!

These items under contract 2565 are supposed to be priced at fair market value. When James McDounough took over as secretary in 2005, he made Keefe Corporation lower the prices to that of fair market value. This company's former president was involved in illegal contracts. See www.ocala.com and www.gainesville.com This illegal activity sent FOUR FDOC employees to prison, two of them just this year on January 13, 2012. One FDOC employee was sentenced to 26 months in prison, another to 14 months. Keefe should have been banned from any further contract bids for participating in illegal contracts. Since McDonough left, Keefe has slowly returned to its price gouging ways. Which is not just harming prisoners, but the price gouging is harming our family and friends who support us. For I can't earn money. I rely on my mother, and a couple of friends. This illegal price gouging which is a violation of contract 2565 needs to be stopped. But it's not going to happen, because this is the Florida Dept of CORRUPTION!
