Airing Out Dirty Laundry

It's amazing how swift life brings a curve ball. That sometimes we don't have any control over. It is baffling when the curve ball own by people who take advantage of those who are already down in the pit. When I say pit; it could be many different situations. My pit is my child's death, people abusing me physically & emotionally, prison, other children being taken away and losing a husband to the prison system.

I understand that God will fight our battles. As the church folks say, but advice is easily given when a person is not going through, or haven't encountered a similar situation. If I quote a motto today, it would be "a voice in the desert is stronger than one on the mountain top". Oftentimes some people don't want to hear voices of people who are encountering traumatic situations.

For example I was molested by my stepdad for four years. Then I was molested by two other family members. I was raped by a boyfriend and he continually stalked me. In each situation the law & Department of family children services and family members said, I was a liar. Why is it that the system as well as society continue to allow the perpetrators to abuse, when it is evident that there is a problem?

I used my personal life as an example because plenty of women surrounding me in prison, having been violated in so many ways. One of the issues I am concerned about is the integrity & sense of justice of people in our government. Integrity in the government has gone out the window. Many women that are in prison for killing their spouses, boyfriend or even associate, called the police to help.

However they failed to do their job when called on the scene. Now they are in prison for murder. These women are considered dangerous to society, when they are actual good people that made one bad choice. If the police would have followed the proper procedures in some of these cases.

Not in all cases are these women taking warrants out against the person, then withdrawing them. Sometimes the police are called out and they say can't do anything. Here is the end all be all saying from the officers, "I will take both of you to jail", when they can clearly see the victim that called is bruised up. When the right judgment isn't made in the situation, the victim ends up in prison for murder, because they were forced to protect themselves or other, or lose their life.

Then the victim goes to court for murder, before jurors who have never been abused. They want to sit on the mountain top, and say she should have moved to get out of that relationship. When a perpetrator abuses their victim they don't care what lengths they have to go through to destroy the victim, even a women's shelter. No juror should sit in judgment unless they've encountered a similar situation.

Not all situations were an abused victim kills out of malicious. If you review the majority of the domestic violence (murder) the law has went too far sentencing these women. I have a dear friend in here. She is 74 years old. Her husband was drinking and became very violent toward her, that led her to shoot him one time. It killed him. She said "Jennifer, it was either me or him that night. I hate I took his life."

They gave her voluntary manslaughter, that really touched my heart. I grew up in a violent environment. I myself know what people can do to you. And pretend like they haven't did a thing. When you say something about what they are doing, you are viewed as a liar or crazy. I write this blog because I want America to take their blindfolds off, to the government's injustice towards domestic violence.

It's time to start speaking up about the injustices that our government exhibits in regards to domestic violence victims & society. Step up to the plate and be a citizen who will not tolerate injustices in our government. Stop allowing the government to treat abused women as political tools.

We all are somebody. Nobody is better than the next. The government has procedures they need to follow. Before I got incarcerated. Even as I was growing up I always saw the law enforcement as great people with integrity. So I grew up wanting to get into that career. Because I want to help people. I always had a caring heart.

All the individuals I grew up with knowing worked within the government offices, secretly I looked up to them as mentors. Until I had a true encounter with them. My very first encounter came when I was beat unmercifully by mom and stepfather who was molesting me. I had bruises all over my body at the age of 13.

My friends' mom took me to the police station. I was put into foster care for 90 days. During my stay in foster care, I went to counseling for the molestation and beating. My foster mom was never left at home with her adult son. That is another issue needs to be looked into; because a lot of foster parent(s) just keeping the children for BENEFITS.

After those 90 days; I was placed back into my abuser's custody. The abuse and molestation resurfaced. What ended the abuse was my biological father gaining custody of me. My next encounter with the Department of family children service is on September 07, 1996. I left my children with my aunt that morning while I stepped out to the post office. Immediately I came back to get my children. Because I don't let people keep my children, because of my past abuse.

So that evening I left my fiance with the children while I went to Winn-Dixie. I came back and finished cooking. It was time to bathe my children. I pulled my son Joshua's clothes off. When I took off his socks, there were blisters under each foot. I questioned both my aunt & fiance. Both of them said they didn't know what happened.

Immediately I took Joshua to the emergency room. The ER nurse asked who smokes in this home? I told her my aunt and fiance but however my children could have been playing with matches while my back was turned, I didn't know. This ER nurse gave me neosporin and had me to sign a legal document saying they were releasing Joshua with a responsible adult.

Now the proper procedure for an abused child who is brought to the emergency room is to call the Department of family and children service and an arrest officer. The ER doctor didn't call Department of family & children service until September 09th. Procedural calls were supposed to be done within 24 hrs. Personally I didn't know who did this to Joshua, because I didn't check him after I came back from post office.

I trusted my aunt and fiance to watch my children for a short time. A week later I found out that my aunt had a crack addiction. If I had known she was an addict I would have never left my children there. DFACS was told about my aunt but it was never investigated. Instead my fiance and I were.

After this me and my aunt's relationship was rocky. We wouldn't let her borrow money or food, because of her drug habit. So she started false rumors and harassed us. December 29, 1996 Joshua was found deceased in his crib. When the autopsy came back that it was blunt force injury to abdomen. There was no child abuse going on in my apartment.

My aunt voluntarily went to the police station to give information. She was constantly doing a lot of talking. My aunt was also harassing us but I couldn't tell the police because they were harassing us as well.

In a statement Evonn said that my aunt was going around telling everyone what to say in this case of Joshua's death.

Evonn lied because she was scared because my aunt swung at her and daughter with a hammer. Evonn was also on drugs. Bainbridge DFACS took her daughter from her. My mom who was one of my abusers from my youth was informant in my case.

These abusers lied, however State of Georgia believed them. Without weighing anything as to what and why these things were said. During my legal case my public defender began to badger me saying "You need say something against your fiance or brother. Your mother is not lying. Our expert witness knows what he's talking about."

However, the expert witness changed his theory. The district attorney concealed evidence that was in my favor to cover the fact that they did not investigate the foot burning incident. Their star witness was the one who kept Joshua when his feet were burned. Detective Wendell committed perjury under oath. While he was on my case he was being investigated for the death of his wife.

Yet he was not suspended. Bainbridge Police Department to allow him to work and investigate. District attorney Mosely and Judge Cato only allowed one black juror on my jury. Someone of interest let me know that Mr. Mosely told the black juror that she had to say guilty just like all the other jurors, that is tampering with jury. My attorney was in on all the injustices.

I incriminated myself under coercion during interrogation. However later, I found out my lawyer was supposed to have filed a motion to suppress. Even now I don't know who burned Joshua's feet nor who/what killed him. But I sit in prison with a life sentence with the possibility of parole. My character has been ruined because the state says I knew what was going on when I didn't.

The state of Georgia says children are going to always love their parents no matter what. I am here to say that is a myth. I didn't feel that way about the people who abused me. Yet again here are the very people who could have prevented Joshua's death; if they would have done something when I brought him to the hospital.

Honestly I didn't know what happened, and still don't. I would like to know. The state of Georgia says they took my other children based on negligence. Negligence would have been if I had left my children deliberately with my aunt, and I knew she was on drugs. Negligence would have been if I just sit there and let somebody abuse children. Which was said but false information.

Evonn was threatened by my aunt with a hammer and was scared of my aunt so she lied out of fear. My mother believed I took her husband, because I told that her husband molested me from age 9 to 13. Therefore she lied out of anger. Jackie had to be located to testify, as a result she was detained. Brother Johnny was visiting my apartment; while my fiance Chris was playing with my daughter. He attacked my fiance physically because of false accusations that my brother Michael had made, which was used to imply that my fiance had a history of violence.

Instead of focusing on the case, Joshua's death. It was focused on drama & hearsay. This ruined me and my fiance's reputation and put us in prison under felony murder and cruelty to children: It has been 15 years now for me and 16 for my now husband. Our reputation is ruined and we've missed out on a lot of our children's lives. All because nobody cares about the truth of the matter. All the state of Georgia cared about was others' personal opinions.

Since my incarceration a lot of the ones who were on our case got promoted; even with all the injustices they allowed. Detective Wendell committed perjury under oath and submitted perjury under oath and submitted illegal evidence. He was under investigation for the death of his wife. Yet not suspended, who's to say he is not still corrupted as he now serves as a major in the Bainbridge Sheriff Dept.

Agent GBI Michael and [redacted] planted false information by saying me and my fiance were wanted when in fact we were out on bond. Agent Michael planted simple robbery case on my fiance while he was out on bond. GBI Agent Michael and Detective Wendell constantly harassed us by following us, going to our jobs telling our supervisors that we were wanted for murder, when we were in fact out on bond.

They defamed our character every time they got a chance. They implied that my fiance was a drug dealer. Two years ago District Attorney Mosely assaulted a man, the case was handed over to the GBI office in Thomasville, GA. DA Mosely was made to resign behind that incident. He is now a solicitor of Decatur County.

Why is that in Georgia, when a government official is involved in corruptive behavior, they are not truly punished. There is a lot of passive decision making in the government. Why is it, that when a district attorney, judge or any law enforcement official is found committing crimes or corruption, instead of the state of Georgia reopening the cases to correct the miscarriages of justice, they allow the people who suffer from the injustices inflicted by the corrupt law officials, to remain in jail or prison. The state of Georgia refuses to own up or speak about the wrongs that have been done to many people who once believed the law was just.
