Killing of Texas D.A.

I've been watching all the endless speculation on cable news about who may have killed the Kaufman County, Texas District Attorney, his wife and an Asst. District Attorney two months ago. A lot of this speculation has focused on the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang. All I can say to the government is this: you reap what you sow. For years cops, courts and prison officials have focused only on getting criminals off the street but are wholly indifferent to the culture of violence inside prison. Hence it is no surprise that this violence may now be spilling outside of prisons and into the streets. Petty thieves are often transformed into hard, violent, bitter men by the prison culture. I pray for the family of this slain D.A. but there are real life consequences to tough on crime policies that breed a segment of society that leaves prisons and jails either traumatized or more dangerous than ever. Sadly this tragedy will only reinforce tough on crime advocates and there'll be no real solutions to our society's crime problem.
