Still Seeking Mentors

I posted a post about seeking mentors but it came out kinda blurry so I posted another one and never got any feedback so here I am posting another one. One of the things I struggle with most is being and hanging around the wrong people when I'm out there in the free world. My mission this time around is to meet men and women of different social standings and backgrounds who be willing to step up as mentors in my life.

I know it may seem like I'm a little old to be looking for people to get advice and direction from but my "best" thinking got me put in prison for the last 11 years... I could really use some advice and guidance. I've written Dr. Phil, Judge Mathis, and various community leaders and have yet to receive any responses :(. Now I'm just reading out to all of you... I'll be home in the next year and I just wanna make it out there.

If you are willing to be a mentor to me or know anyone who would be a good one then I encourage a response to this post from you or them. Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Marcus, I finished the transcription for your post.

I'm sorry that you haven't received any replies on your posts asking for mentors.

There are a lot of websites offering support/help. I'd be happy to research some, get their contact details for you or provide your information to them and see if they make contact.

I can also give you my email when you're released. I might be able to format a resume or something for you. :)

I was just thinking maybe you could write a blog detailing what kind of support you're after and I could forward it on to the websites that provide help, in the hopes of them contacting you directly.

Marcus:

Do you have a religious tradition that's important to you? I ask because if you do - you could write to the temple, church (what-have-you) and they usually have someone who could help serve in this capacity.

I think your idea is great and one that most folks need when they get out. Do you have time left to make a good transition plan?

I don't know much about your state, but most states don't help folks when they get out. So you need to find help. If you write out a blog post of what you are looking for, I'll bet folks here would google some support (transitional housing, if that's what you want, for instance).

Or some addresses of churches, ect. It's a place to start.
