The Antagonizers
by Jeremy Pinson

I hate people who antagonize others. Who probe relentlessly with verbal missiles until they hit a soft spot and an explosion occurs. This is what some correctional officers do. I am largely immune to it but it is quite vexing to watch other inmates fall into this trap. The antagonizers come, they do their thing, and an inmate erupts in a state of rage which is used as a pretext by the guards to pepper spray, beat and tie down that inmate. Here at ADX Officers Gardiner, Balsick, Cermak, Perry and Lt. Alvarez are the worst. There is nothing more annoying to be at the mercy and whims of men you KNOW are your intellectual inferiors. I know that powerless men use pettiness to feel powerful but it is enormously frustrating. So I watch and I listen. Sometimes if it crosses the line I will report it. And as nothing changes I recite St. Augustine's prayer to a God I don't believe in. And wish diarrhea upon all my antagonizers. :)
