Dear Blog,
It hurts so bad just to look at this stuff; things/details about trial I've intentionally or subconsciously forgot- to lessen the pain. On the opening day of the 'Penalty Phase', which is after the convictions, where the Prosecutor tries to sway the jury to vote for the Death Penalty I just couldn't stand it and I just screamed out "I Didn't Do It". My pain and nerves were even more raw than right now (while reviewing transcripts). I still couldn't believe I had been convicted and I had to sit and hear the D.A. try and kill me. Wow- I'm hurting now as I recall the pained expressions and tears on everyone's faces, my parents, family members- even some jurors. I was sentenced to LWOP (Life With Out Parole). Most people believed it was a "compromise verdict', meaning- vote to convict- but no death penalty- because they (jurors) didn't fully believe in the verdict. Up to 10 Capital Cases before mine- all were- Death Verdicts and they were convicted of 1 murder; I was convicted of 3 and the jury couldn't, didn't vote for death.
While I was a college student, I never would've believed that anyone could be convicted in a case with so much exculpatory evidence damaged. I used to think, those type of claims were made up pleas for help from the public, yet here I sit with LWOP. Arrested on 12/1/1996, it's now 11/23/2010.

Well you guys, I hope this moves you to at least one day go to your local court and 'witness' a trial. All too often a lot of misjustices occur- because the only people in court are the judge, lawyers, defendant, and jurors. With no public, there's no accountability. In a high profile case, everything is scrutinized because the public has their eyes on the trial. The prosecutor who tried the case against me in Alameda County is now a 'Judge' in the same county. I am a 'Lifer' while I still appeal the conviction against me.

With Respect,
Michael Singh
