Things I've Seen
Ras Uhuru
Imagine a story where there are two men on their departure beds. One blind, the other with good sight. Other than that, their conditions are relatively the same. But their states of mind are different.
The blind man has a common and mellifluous demeanor. The other man stresses out day-in, day-out.
This is reflected in the way he treated the nurses and doctors.
While the blind man greeted the nurses with a smile and roses that he brought in, the latter issued demands and complaints at them.
These two contrasts were noticed by the staff.
So, one day, a nurse asked why the blind man was calm and centered. "I've seen and experienced the world and all it has to offer in life. I shall not miss what I've seen, and that which I have not seen."
When the nurse left, the other man confronted the blind man. "How the hell have you 'SEEN' anything when you have been blind since birth?"
"I have seen and experienced the entire world in my mind."
"Ahh! That's philosophy paper talk. Real experience is in seeing, touching, and feeling and smelling all at the same time!"
"Hai! This is true. And I've done all of those things. What you see with your eyes must be computered and translated in the mind, by detailed descriptions, smells, and sound. I've seen all the things that you have seen."
"But that's impossible because no matter how much descriptions you receive, there is nothing like the real thing. Besides, you are only seeing what the person who describes it to you saw or sees. Not your own experience and interpretations."
"You are right. But, you see, as you just explained, we all see the world in many shades of hue. So after I've read and heard many different descriptions of one specific thing that brought interest, I would always add more and in my own personal details as to how I would imagine it and want it to look, as if I'd been the creator of it. So, not only have I see, heard, probably most of all the things you have seen and heard, that is of great public significance, but I've seen and heard things that no one else has seen, heard, or experienced. For these are and were the things only created by my mind."
