Update in brief:
"Notice needed but not permission [permits] for protests; state to pay legal bills"
by Jason Stein, Michael Phillis and Patrick Marley; jstein@journalstentinal.com; Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; October 9, 2013
The ACLU-Wisconsin settled the protesters' federal lawsuit (W.D. Wis. 2013,) seated in Madison, out of court.
Ostensibly on terms disagreeable to some protesters who verbally vowed not to obey (abide by). However, plaintiff Michael Kissick, University of Wisconsin-Madison Assistant Professor of Medical Physics and a woman who sings Christmas carols who was later added to the lawsuits apparently can live with the result.
Gov. Scott Walker (R): "The State Department of Administration would keep its permitting rules in place butal so allow up to five days of demonstrations if protesters simply give the state two days' notice."
Gov. (R) agreed to pay attorneys fees of $88,271 and dropping the "hard and fast requirement that groups protesting in the capital receive a permit."
Thus avoiding a January set trial before district Judge William Conely.
Stay tuned: the governor race is now in play.
