An Extreme Life
Reality and pop culture call attention to extreme sports, games and similar outrageous feats. But how about an extreme life? ST. Cajetan, one of the many saints housed by the Catholic Church of today, was truly a man of extremes.

Born in luxury to an Italian count in 1480, Cajetan held doctorates and served as a senator. He rubbed shoulders with the elite of his day, including the Pope.

At a time of heresy and internal scandal amongst the church, Cajetan's extreme love for the church led to his founding a religious order whose lifestyle modeled holiness and purity in morals and doctrine.

His deep love for society's outcasts inspired him to spend his inheritance on prisoners and the incurably ill. Loans were made to the poor, saving them from the unjust usury of the day.

At his death, Cajetan asked to be buried in the common grave of the poor. Such an extreme life, from birth to death, can only stem from an extreme love for an extreme savior.
