"Ever after I knew all the haunted shades of meaning that were captive in other people's words. And for that they called me mad." - Theresa Duncan

Dear Readers,

Howdy! As last reported, I am still in the hole. I should get out next week.

Besides the fight last month, I also finally had the surgery to remove the lump in my chest on Sept. 12. I went to "sick call" last January, other than a short exam, nothing was done in all that time. Fortunately, they said it wasn't cancer, but I never thought it was. However, had it been cancer, couldn't it have spread in all that time? Our medical care is ridiculous.

As another example, I finally saw the P.A. (Physician's Asst.) on Oct. 10 when I found out at last that it wasn't cancer. He also finally agreed to give me a bottom bunk pass, which he refused to address when I last saw him in August. However, when I finally got a copy of my "medical status" sheet from Medical Records ('cause he didn't want to send me a copy; read: lazy), I found out that instead of "lower bunk", he marked "cell on first floor" instead. Not the same thing. Not only would that not allow me a bottom bunk (we have bunk beds), but it would move me to a different unit where I know no one and don't want to be. What an idiot. I'm trying to get this corrected.

For now there's still no word on whether my transfer is still on or not. I really hope to get away from here.

I also had a major birthday earlier this month. Ugh. Don't ask how major. I'm still in denial. I got one birthday card - from my dear friend Will. He's so thoughtful. He even sent me $20! I called my friend Pam, but as usual no card from her. She's got some stuff to send me, like some pictures I've been asking for for about 4 years, but can't seem to put them in an envelope.

Prior to my being locked in the hole, some brainless idiot on he staff decided to fingerprint the entire compound so we have to have our fingerprint read in a machine before we eat. It is ludicrous. Lunch now takes over 2 hours (so far they were only doing it at lunch) It could be 1 pm and there will still be guys in line since it takes so long. They used to have 12:20 pm "callouts" (appointments), and now it's a total fiasco. They'll never admit it though.

The only thing this fingerprinting does is prevent guys from going through the line twice. They still are required to make the same amount of food they have to ma a certain amount. So, all that means is that more food gets thrown away at the end of the meal. They're not saving any money. In fact, it cost more money to have this flawed system installed and it screws up the afternoon schedule Some idiot(s) need to be fired.

Further, although I've never had the guts to try to go thru the line twice, I usually leave each meal hungry. And i'm skinny - if anything, i'm underweight. They should be feeding us more, not preventing us from eating.

Until next time...

Love and Blessings,
Kelly
