The Criminal Mind II

The stories I bring to you are a
sign of the time,
hoping to gain your attention
by making them rhyme.
While playing spades I was
listening to a man
speaking of his past and future
plans.
He was first arrested at the
age of sixteen;
released and arrested again
with a short time between.
With such consequences, you
think one would learn
the best dollar is the one that
you earn.
Incarcerated for well over
a decade,
early teens, late 20s, still
this didn't persuade.
A man who's spent most of
his life inside a prison wall,
to a true criminal, this doesn't
matter at all.
Released, finding employment
in sanitation,
stable employment still with
the temptation.
To gain much more stable wasn't
enough.
A very good shoplifter that wasn't
his only lust.
He had several women in almost
every borough,
motivated to steal more—yes,
he was thorough.
He never needed help. He did
this alone.
His confidence progressed.
No need for a hone.
Finally, he met a woman who
did the same.
Just as confident. What a
terrible shame.
The items stolen weren't very
cheap.
There was no thought of what
you sow you will reap.
This person believes the good
that you do
in the cycle of life will come
right back to you.
Not having the concept that the
bad that you do
are in the same cycle, and it
comes back to you too.
After meeting this lady, they
soon became friends.
Now it's time for the deadly
dual team to begin.
After entering the department
they go to separate floors,
planning to meet before
exiting the doors.
After meeting, they saw the
same person twice.
They were really not worried,
still rolling the dice.
When they first met this lady
friend
didn't have enough. The beginning
of the end.
The last thing she decided to
take
was near a camera which she
claimed to be fake.
Now the two are headed for
the door
Many followed at the door, there
were many more.
Months of freedom, still,
this is what he chose.
Now you know how this story goes.
Stable employment, many years
of being confined—
makes no difference to
the criminal mind.
