The Right To Choose?

The Right to Choose?

With the growing concerns over the death penalty drug shortage, several states have opted to bring back the old methods of execution. Seven states are seeking to reinstate the electric chair. Four states are going in the direction of a gas chamber. Of course, Utah is returning to its wild west method of firing squad.

Texas still has the hanging trees outside most of its courthouses. These were the chosen methods of execution into the 1930s when the state took over executions with ole Sparky. That day Texas strapped four in the chair and fried 'em.

Seems the death penalty is regressing backwards. As an advances civilized society, this is surprising in this technologically advanced age. Poses the question: do death row prisoners have a right to not suffer cruel and unusual punishment? Do they have a right to choose how they die?

At what point does it appear to be revenge? Call it what you may... Retribution is just another word for revenge.

I read recently an institution allows inmates to bike, these bikes produce electric power for the Institution and this is volunteer program that reduce the time served by the inmate, I understand we have laws against slavery and the inmates in these programs are not forced to do this, but I think will be better inmates biking and producing electricity than killing them. Just a thought.

I was scrolling thru Netflix today while cooking dinner and I came across "I am a killer" I've been watching and as I sit here watching your story and I can't help but feel complete empathy for your situation. I really don't believe your case is that of the death penalty. I am a supporter of the death penalty I'm also a convicted felon and have a DOC number. I know how it feels to be in prison I can't imagine death row. I really don't know why I chose to write to you but something in my gut told me too. If you would like to conversate with me I'm willing. Just wanted you to know you do have people out here that don't believe you deserve death penalty.
