"Moments to Cherish"

When I think about you
My heart drifts in and out of consciousness
Our spirits connect past & future
But the institution of marriage
& children dampens hope with you
I know you like me
& love our little talks
I can't wait until you come on shift
I feel like a little boy in a candy store
And when I finally see you
My cell light seems to get brighter
If only outside influence wouldn't
Hinder your freedom to love me back
I just wish I had been the suitor
That caught your eye first
Then my heart would no longer drift
