Dear Anja,
Thank you for writing. That steam locomotive you like was done with a ballpoint pen. Very time consuming because the applicator tip for the ink is so small. It's sort of like one would do a tattoo because the main color is always black, and usually only light or white is the absence of ink. I did some good drawings of locomotives with colored pencils. I borrowed a book from the library that had lots of steam locomotives in Argentina.
My father told me before he died that I might have relatives in Argentina. At one time, they owned some supermarket. The last Riva down there (spelled it "Riba" though) only had daughters, so the last name would not have continued.
What sort of art do you make in Germany? Here in prison, I can only use the colored pencils or ballpoint pens. Once in a while, I can use watercolor pencils. I do fairly good oil paintings, but there's none available in there 'cause someone in another prison used them to light the library on fire. I don't draw people or animals anymore (nothing with a soul), except once in a while, I draw dead mice or dead flies.
Well, be good. Say your prayers, eat your vegetables.
