Have we met in the decades old past? Are you one of the four women whom I mistreated and caused undeserved hardship to? If you are not, then no harm in asking. But if you are, you should try to let me make meaningful restitution to unburden my soul while we both still breathe.
I am puzzled by your poetry. Please speak plain. If you are the she I think you might be, then please write me direct at the prison. I am a changed man. I was (if you are she), as you well know, ill-equipped for the world because of traumatic mental illness. But I did lots of work to make things better.
You don't have to love me to accept my money or whatever else assistance I can be. Doesn't mean I don't want love, but I can understand—if you are she—how and why you would bristle at the thought. You and your family. I must have put them through a terrible strain. Your father sat me down, gave me a beer, and said, "Give me a break." Then me, being puzzled, he said a few minutes later, "You're gonna wind up in prison." Of course, his wisdom escaped me at the time. But after many years of therapy, I pieced together the many forks in the road. I took the wrong turn.
So if you are not her, then please excuse me. I'm trying hard to retrace my footsteps, to undo as much of the harm I have caused before it's too late.
