Just a whisper in the wind

I done a horrible crime
It still linger ever so close
Perhaps death is the only thing -
That will give me rest
In prayer I can't find sanctuary
forgiveness has been withheld by God
At night I nestle underneath my covers
And when all has quieted down
I send my broken heart outside these walls
Hoping my victim will hear my thoughts
But her ears remain death
She'll never know my heartache
for sending my senseless tornado through her field
Hopefully her fears are now just a whisper -
In the wind
And that my face -
No longer appears in her dreams
But I'll never know for sure -
And that drives me crazy
I pray that Peace has found a home in her heart
